Take a Walk With Me - Final #2

Clip Duration: 30 Seconds

Imaginary lines are one way the mind tries to differentiate certain objects from another. In this clip, I took several movies using a digital camera to try and create this imaginary line. Through the use of a gradient in the images (light on one side of the image to dark on the other), this imaginary line is created. Even when twisted and pulled out of context, the mind will connect the objects.

Dizzy It Up - Final #1

Clip Duration: 31 Seconds

What makes a set of still images interesting? Is it because the nature of the human mind tries to create continuity through the use of repetition and rhythm, shape and lighting? This clip is a compilation of still images collected on a walk taken through Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Its purpose is to explore the effectiveness of repetition and rhythm through shape and pattern between distinct separate images.

Urban Tilta-Whirl

This is probably my most favorite clip because it is comprised of a set of still images that I took while trying to create a twirling effect. The movement, even though derived from still images, seems to be fluid. This fluidity is also continuous among the different subjects that are shot. The only editing I might do is to maybe remove stills that seem to interrupt this fluidity.

Mocking a Spiral

The aesthetic quality of this clip is how the movement of the camera mimics the form of the object that it is recording. I will possibly speed this clip up and loop it as well, to spiral in and spiral down. Also, I might interrupt the smooth movement with cuts to shots of circles that might help outline the spiral.

Sewer Shake

I love this clip because the viewer does not know what they are looking at, until the end. This anonymous circle seems to bounce around the screen, then becomes more erratic, and suddenly jumps out to a wider shot to reveal its bigger self, a sewer cover.

Gravel Twist

I enjoy the quality of this clip because of its movement and ambiguous texture. I am toying with the idea of looping the clip to run back and forth, so that it keeps the movement flowing from side to side, kind of rocking back and forth.

Through The Depths Of Ice

This movie is a close up of some snow versus the background of pavement. What's interesting is the depth of focus on the pavement, while the snow gets closer and further away from the camera. Also, there are some snow flakes that fall and are captured on film and add an interesting quality to it. I was thinking of possibly playing with the negative of this image, transitioning between the actual color and negative image, just to play with the gradient of the composition.

Strategy #1

Generate video and still imagery with a gradient from white on one edge of the frame to a darker value on the opposite edge.

Strategy #2

Generate video and still imagery of only rounded corners.
